Coventry Welsh 27 Dudley Wasps 7
The Welsh got back to winning ways with an emphatic win over Dudley Wasps. >From the kick off the Welsh put their visitors under pressure with the backs and forwards linking together in some flowing moves that saw Mark Ellis crash over for an excellent try. Luke Horan added the conversion. Regaining the ball from the restart the Welsh powered forward and once again Mark Ellis was on hand to take the telling pass to touch down for his second try, again converted by Luke Horan. As the half closed the Welsh opted to go for a line out instead of the 3 points on offer from a penalty and were richly rewarded when a planned move came off for Matt Carrier to score in the corner. An excellent touchline conversion from Luke Horan saw the Welsh turn around with a 21-0 lead. Some stern words at half time brought Dudley to life and they began to string some good moves together and with both sides electing to run at every opportunity it became a very enjoyable game. Dudley were rewarded for their efforts with a try and conversion but it was the Welsh who had the final say as Luke Horan added 2 penalties for well earned victory.
