Coventry Welsh 28 - Leamington 2XV 10
Coventry Welsh got off to the perfect start in their friendly with Leamington 2nds as from the kick off a knock on by the opposition fell straight into the hands off on rushing Simon Stubbs who ran in to score one of the fastest tries in recent Welsh history. Luke Horan converted. Leamington came back strongly but the Welsh weathered the storm and some probing runs by their backs kept the opposition defence busy. Leading 7-3 at the break the Welsh began to take control and a sniping run from Ryan Hughes saw him score another try. A well worked move minutes later saw Matt Carrier take the inside pass to score a fine try. Both converted by Luke Horan. In the best move of the game the Welsh played the ball through several pairs of hands only for Liam Horan to be tackled off the ball as he was about to take the final pass and the Welsh were awarded a deserved penalty try duly converted by Liam Horan. Leamington continued to play open rugby and were rewarded for their efforts with a last minute try and conversion.
